Atiu Villas started as Atiu Motel in December 1980 when the first villa was built and opened. In those days bookings where made by letter and communicated to us by a radio call from Air Rarotonga who told us who was coming. The owners Roger and Kura Malcolm created the villas using local trees and a sawmill. In early 2001 "Atiu Motel" became "Atiu Villas" in recognition of the increasing number of Americans visiting Atiu and the America's negative image of Motels.
Now in 2025 there are 6 villas, a swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar. Each of the self-contained villas is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens and jungle. Guests can enjoy a wood BBQ by the pool and they also have a grass tennis court. Tennis racket and tennis ball is behind the bar.
The villas features a kitchen with a stove, oven and refrigerator and all have a fully stocked food cupboard and a refrigerator with beverages bread, eggs, cheese, canned goods and much more.
There is a complimentary bowl of fresh fruit of the season.
In 2017 Jackey Matakino became a shareholder and the general manger of the property.
Guests now enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi each day. Our tour desk books caving, hiking and cultural tours. Bicycle, motor bike and vehicle hire is also available.
The restaurant serves dinner each night and offers a large communal dining area. The bar offers a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, spirits, beer and wine.
